Eight roads within Soroti municipality have been earmarked for tarmacking. The roads, covering a distance of 13 kilometres, will be upgraded as part of the ongoing construction of Soroti- Moroto road, a task undertaken by China Communications Construction Company (CCCC).
The roads include Lalle road covering a distance of 2.662 km in Western Division, Mohamadian road, the 3.7km stretch from Moroto road through Otucopi and Madera complex to the Muslim cemetery.

The same project also targets the development of Soroti town roundabout and the stretch to the state lodge in Pamba ward along old Soroti- Mbale road. Soroti Town Clerk Moses Otimong explains that the plan will also cover restoring all greenbelts in Soroti town.
He is optimistic that the plan will improve the state of the roads whose tarmac is now completely worn out and are covered with pits and potholes that make driving a nightmare.

Haridas road, a 0.8km section and School road in-front of Pioneer Primary School have been slotted to be worked on under the USMID project, according to the new adjustments. This leaves out the 3 km Ebamu road, from Akello Hotel to Moroto road, as the only road without a budgetary allocation for reconstruction.
George Agojoi, businessman and a resident of Nakatunya ward in Soroti municipality observed that that some roads were really in bad shape with cracked tarmac.

According to Agojoi, the issue of restoring such significant roads in the municipality must not hang between local and central administration, adding that immediate corrective methods should be applied.
