Soroti Regional Referral Hospital has disposed off about 60 kilograms of expired drugs and hospital supplies. Paul Ajuk, the senior administrator says the drugs were supplied in excess and couldn't be consumed before their expiry dates.
//Cue in “Those drugs were not left……
Cue out “……sixty kilos.”//
He declined to reveal the specifics of the expired drugs and their monetary value and instead refereed our reporter to pharmacy officials, who were tight lipped on the matter. One of the officials told URN that, he was new in the office and couldn’t put a value on the expired drugs and medical supplies.
Our reporter saw heaps of thedrugs amd medical supplies such as syringes and test kits being emptied from two containers. A nurse who spoke on condition of anonymity told URN that some of the drugs were donations to the hospital by well-wishers who brought them when they were a few days to expiry.
