Uganda Cranes striker Junior Yunus Ssentamu has failed to report back to his DR Congo team, AS Vita.

Reports from Kinshasa indicate that the team's head coach Florent Ibenge is angry that Ssentamu has not returned to the club since early last month when he got injured in a 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier against the Black Stars of Ghana at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

Ibenge said he is surprised that Ssentamu preferred to remain in Uganda and yet the DR Congo team has a competent medical team.

The 20-year old striker scored some vital goals to help AS Vita reach the final of the 2014 CAF Champions League. Ssentamu has missed most of AS Vita's League games since flying back to Uganda last month.

However, on Friday the player told URN on phone that he is visiting his mother in Kasese District. The former SC Vipers and St Marys Kitende player said he had decided to get treatment in Kampala and was close to returning to DR Congo.

Ssentamu was recruited by the DR Congo side after his good show at the 2014 Africa Nations Championship in South Africa. He scored three goals for the Uganda Cranes as they failed to go past the group stage. Besides interests from South African top sides, AS Vita were quick to sign the goal poacher.
