Stanbic Uganda Cup: Police Defeats Wakiso Giants 3:1

The win gives Police an early advantage over Wakiso Giants in the return leg that is slated next week at MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.

Uganda Police Football Club on Thursday defeated Wakiso Giants 3:1 in the Stanbic Uganda Cup quarter finals. 

The game was played at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in Wakiso District.

Goals from striker Derrick Kakooza, Ben Ocen and Yusuf Ssozi helped the cops to triumph over the Purple Sharks and secure an early lead ahead of their second leg next week. 

The hosts Wakiso Giants were the first to take the lead just five minutes after kick-off through an own goal by Police's Ruben Kimera. However, seven minutes later Police levelled the game through striker Derrick Kakooza.

In the 27th minute, Yusuf Ssozi scored Police’s second goal after collecting a pass from Joseph Sentume before Ben Ocen doubled their lead in the 66th minute of the second half.

Police’s head coach Abdullah Mubiru thanked his players for the energy exhibited to secure the victory.

Mubiru added that his side had gone many games without winning however he is relieved with the win against Wakiso Giants.
