Strange Skin Disease Outbreak Reported in Amolatar District

According to the affected residents, their attempts to find a solution have been futile since the available skin ointment hasn’t helped.

There is a strange disease outbreak in Amolatar District.  The disease has been reported in Alongotidi and Oturulakodal villages in Akongomit parish in Awelo Sub County in Amolatar District. 

The skin disease has afflicted 10 households affecting more than 27 people. 

The disease presents with itchy rashes, which later develop into painful sores accompanied by a watery discharge.

Anna Obongi, a member of the Village Health Team (VHT) in Oturulakodal told URN that she received a report about the first in late January and referred it to a health Center I, which ruled out scabies.

Betty Okello, a resident of Alongotidi village says that unless a solution is found immediately, the infection could spread to other residents.

Sam Ochom, the Sub- County Health Assistant, says Skin disorders vary greatly in symptoms and severity and can be temporary or permanent.

He has pledged to reach out to the district health department to establish the possible cause of the disease.
