Uganda Cranes striker Edrisa ‘Torres' Lubega has joined Austria's Firts Divsion side Floridsdorfer Athletiksport Club.
“He has joined the Austrian team on a six month loan move from Proline FC,” club manager and Director Mujib Kasule told URN on Thursday before the player traveled on an Ethiopian Airlines flight to Austria.
Lubega who missed the game when Proline FC beat Onduparaka FC 3-1 on Wednesday has scored seven goals for Proline FC in the Azam Uganda Premier League.
Kasule said that the young player is lucky to play in the competitive league and if he impresses then he will get a better big long term contract. The Austrian team has been following the Ugandan youngster since last year.
Lubega who was not selected on the final squad for the 2017 Total Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) that ended in Gabon last weekend played for the national team during the 2016 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) in Rwanda.
He will become the second Ugandan player to feature in Austria after ex-Uganda Cranes skipper Ibrahim Sekajja who played for Austrian champions Red Bulls Salzburg from 2007 till he moved to the US four years ago.
The other Ugandan players featuring in Europe include; Farouk Miya (Belgium), William Kizito Luwagga ( Portugal), Alex Kakuba (Portugal) and Patrick Edema (Portugal).
