Uganda Cranes striker Muhammad Shaban is nursing an injury ahead of Thursday's crucial group B clash against Namibia at the on-going 2018 Total Africa Nations Championship.
The striker missed out on training on Tuesday at the Grand Stade Marrakech outer pitch after suffering a knock on Monday.
“ I have 22 other players in camp and I need to see them rise to the occasion if Shaban doesn't make the squad on Thursday. We need to make a difference with good results,” said head coach Sébastien Desabre.
The new coach said that he is preaching positivity in the team to go all out and get the results in the game against Namibia. “ After losing the opening match to Zambia, we now need to take the next two games more seriously,” added the French born coach.
Goalkeeper's coach Fred Kajoba will also welcome goalkeeper Ismail Watenga who missed the first game because of suspension after he accumulated two yellow cards during the qualifiers. Benjamin Ochan did not enjoy good form in goal in the 3-1 loss to Zambia on Sunday.
Uganda will need to battle to pick maximum points if they hope to brighten their hopes of making it to the knock out stage. Zambia lead the group, while Namibia who shocked Cote dÍvoire 1-0 are second on the log.
In the games played on Tuesday Angola and Burkina Faso settled for a goalless draw in a Group D tie played in Agadir, while Congo Brazzaville stopped Cameroon 1-0. Action continues on Wednesday with hosts Morocco facing Guinea, while Sudan battle Mauritania.
