The same students are facing charges of malicious damage and assaulting four school teachers.
Police in Kabale is holding four students of Kihanga Secondary School in Rwamucucu Sub County for allegedly participating in a series of strikes at the school.
The same students are facing charges of malicious damage and assaulting four school teachers.
The students are said to have started the strikes at the school on 18th of April 2013. The students continued to instigate disturbances at the school until yesterday when they were arrested by the police.
Those arrested include Witness Ngabirano (21) a senior four student, Joakim Ashaba (17) a senior three student, Moses Ekyiyasimire (18) and Phillip Mugarura (18) a senior three student.
The arrested students are said to have been inciting fellow students and also going ahead to beat up three teachers.
The teachers who were assaulted include Just Ayebare, Emily Tumuramye and Barker Twinamatsiko .
The students are also said to have vandalized school property which include glasses,kitchen utensils, office property among others.
The Officer- In-Charge of Criminal Investigations Department at Kabale Central Police station Karinkiza Gumisiriza confirms the arrest.
The case is registered under CRB 1160/2013.
Gumisiriza says that after investigations the suspects will appear before court to answer the charges accordingly.
Rev. Captain Wilson Byarugaba, the head teacher at Kihanga Secondary School, says that the students were inciting violence among their colleagues claiming that the teachers were harassing them.
