Apeitolim Sub County in Napak district has received a new Police Station to improve community policing.

The facility was handed over to police on Thursday by the team from the Development Initiative for Northern Uganda (DINU).

The structure is part of the four community police stations the Development Initiative for Northern Uganda (DINU) under the Office of the Prime Minister has constructed in each district across the Mt Moroto region at a cost of 2.7 billion Shillings.

Michael Longole, the Mt Moroto Regional Police Spokesperson said that the police station is equipped with one furnished office block, and two accommodation blocks containing 9 housing units. Two motorcycles were also given to the station to ease mobility.

Longole noted that the development is in line with the President's directive to establish a police station in each sub-county.

He observed that Apeitolim Police Post has been in a sorry state without a detention facility and the new building will now improve their services.

Longole said that they have already operationalized the new police station and the two motorcycles received will ease the mobility and respond to the incidents in that area.

He applauded DINU for the great support asserting that this will raise the morale of personnel considering Karamoja is a hard-to-reach area.

Longole emphasized the community to report cases and promised them good Police service since the station is fully facilitated.
