According to the district speaker Denis Debekas, the council will convene tomorrow to pay tribute to the former female councilor for the excellent work she had done during her tenure in office.
Residents of Abim district in Karamoja sub region in the north eastern Uganda are mourning the sudden death of their LCV female councilor for Lotuke sub county Ms Joyce Nakia after a short illness.
The deceased passed on Friday afternoon after being admitted at Abim district hospital.
Mr. Samuel Hashaka Mpimbaza the resident district Abim described the deceased as a hard working, kind person who always wished everyone well.
Mr.Hashaka said the deceased was one of the councilors who fought against corruption in Abim district and said the district has lost representative.
"The late Nakia has been the real fighter for the people of Abim against corruption now the fight against corruption is no more," he said.
Mr.Nelson Olwit the former assistant chief administrative officer Abim said the deceased was so instrumental in the council debate.
"We have lost, we have lost and we have lost a leader," he said.
Grace Akidi a sub county councilor for Lotuke sub county said the current piped water which 9,000 people are bow enjoying in Lotuke sub county its because of the late Nakia's effort.
"If it was not because of the late Nakia's activeness, people of Lotuke would still be drinking dirty water," she said.
Mr. Denis Debekas, the Abim district speaker told URN that the deceased who recently won elections for another term has left many things unfinished in the council.
"We have lost the leader, and I don't know whether we shall get another leader like Joyce anymore," he said.

Mr. Jimmy Ocero the district LCV chairperson Abim said the deceased will be laid to rest on Saturday at her ancestral home in AWAC sub county.
