SuperSport officials have insisted they will stick to the contractual agreement with Uganda Super League Limited (USLL) to sponsor the now disputed football league.

This comes as the national football Federation, FUFA, struggles to secure funding for the new League created to replace the one managed by USLL.

FUFA withdrew the mandate of USLL to organize the League, but the body chaired by Kavuma Kabenge went ahead to start their own League last week and four games have so far been played. FUFA is still waiting for a final reply from Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) on whether they will sponsor the League after they asked the Federation to explain if the running of the League had been transferred in accordance with the law.

SuperSport and UBL have been the main sponsors of the League before it was disbanded.

SuperSport’s Head of Africa, Andre Venter communicated to USLL on Wednesday insisting that they will honour the contract.

The SuperSport official further asked the USLL chairman Kabenge to furnish them with a full briefing in regard to the current situation.

In Kabenge’s response to SuperSport, he highlighted that they have 11 clubs which have agreed to play in the Uganda Super league, while five have left to play in the newly formed FUFA Super League. He further explained that four games have been played so far involving 8 clubs and fixtures have been drawn for the weeks to come.

Meanwhile, FUFA Super League Limited (FSL) on Tuesday released its own fixture with games starting on September 25 with KCCA facing Sports Club Victoria University. Simba will take on Police, Viper battle Entebbe FC and Kiira Young come face to face with Victors FC.
