Uganda People’s Defense Forces- UPDF soldiers have shot dead a suspected South Sudanese cattle rustler in Agoro Sub County, Lamwo District.

The unidentified man was shot on Thursday night in an ambush laid by soldiers in Obere village, Ngacino Parish.

Denis Onyon, the Agori Sub-county LCIII Chairperson, says that the deceased was in the company of three other armed men who had raided the area when he got shot.

Onyon says the armed men crossed into the area from the neighbouring Ikotos County in Imatong State, South Sudan on a mission to steal cattle.

He says the army was tipped of the armed men's movement and thus laid an ambush near a protected community kraal where they had planned to loot animals from.

Onyon notes that one of the armed men was shot dead on the spot in the ambush and the two others managed to escape.
