Suspected Cattle Thief Burnt to Death in Mukono

A mob in Kawomya village, Mukono district have burnt to death a suspected cattle thief.

The suspects were on Thursday found traveling in a taxi registration number UBD 789E with two slaughtered cows belonging to Vincent Kamuzizi a resident of Kawomya village.

According to Fred Sonko, the Chairperson Kawomya village he received information that two cows had been stolen from the neighbourhood. He says that residents mounted a search for the thieves until they were spotted travelling in the taxi.

Geoffrey Kagoda a resident and Peter Nsereko a driver of the taxi were arrested by police after they survived being lynched by the angry residents who also set ablaze the taxi.

Sonko says that it has become a routine for thieves to steal cows in the area.

Grace Nyangoma, the DPC Naggalama Police condemned the act of mob justice and urged the community to always have village security committees and work together to stop cattle thefts in Mukono district.
