The Boda boda rider who
allegedly killed his wife and two children at Banda in Kyambogo in Kampala and
fled into hiding has finally been apprehended.
The Kampala
Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, says Yasin Mbago was
arrested in Luuka district where he is currently locked up.
"In reference to the murder that on 08/05/2020 the
suspect one MBAGO YASIN, a resident of Banda "B" a Boda boda
rider at kireka farmer's market has been identified and arrested in LUUKA
district and taken to CPS LUUKA pending transfer to Jinja road Police,"
Owoyesigyire said in a text message to journalists.
Mbago is wanted for the murder of his wife, Carol Nambozo, 30
and their two children only identified as Musa 4 and Shaban 2.
According
to Police, Mbago first killed Nambozo before turning to the children. He took off after piling the bodies in sacks.
A team of homicide detectives visited the scene and collected
some exhibits for investigations. Police handed over the deceased’s bodies
to the city mortuary for postmortem.
"The motive for the murder of his
family hasn’t been established yet, but the neighbors allege that the two
have been seen fighting a couple of times," Owoyesigyire said.
