Suspected Motorcycle Thief Lynched in Kitgum

The Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson Jimmy Patrick Okema says the deceased was suspected to have stolen a motorcycle registration UEJ542T belonging to Patrick Tabu from Pajimo trading centre.

An angry mob has lynched a suspected motorcycle thief in Pajimo Central Village in Labongo Akwang Sub County, Kitgum District. 

Felix Ogweng 19 was reportedly beaten at about 11 pm on Wednesday.

 

The Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson Jimmy Patrick Okema says the deceased was suspected to have stolen a motorcycle registration UEJ542T belonging to Patrick Tabu from Pajimo trading centre.   

He says angry youth who sighted the suspect descended on him and beat him to death.    

Okema, says that the motorcycle has also been retrieved and being kept at Kitgum Central Police station.

This is the second incident in less than a month that locals are taking laws into their own hands in Labongo Akwang Sub-county following growing motorcycle theft. 

Late last month, irate mob also beat to death a man suspected to have stolen a motorcycle from a Boda Boda rider in Barjere South Village in Lamit Parish. 

A week ago, unknown thugs clobbered a Boda Boda rider identified as Robert Moi from Labongo Amida Sub-county before taking away his motorcycle.
