Suspected Robbers Kill Police Constable in Jinja

Muzamilu Izimba, a cyclist operating opposite the taxi park who witnessed the incident says that the deceased arrested two suspects at around 5:30 am. He adds that as Tanga was opening the police post cells, one of the suspects pushed him and cut his head before fleeing the scene.

Unidentified thugs have killed a police constable in Jinja District. George Tanga, the officer in charge of Jinja taxi park police post was killed on Thursday.

Tanga is said to have arrested two robbers suspected to have been found stealing iron bars at the taxi park at around 5:30 am. As Tanga was taking them to the police post to be detained, one of the the suspects had a sharp object which he used to hack Tanga.

The Jinja Resident District Commissioner, Eric Sakwa says that security agencies are hunting for the suspects.  He says that the deceased's body had deep cuts on the head and neck.

Paul Nkore, the Kiira regional police commander says that two iron bars were recovered from the crime scene. He however says that Tanga's AK47 rifle was not taken by the suspected robbers.
