Suspected warriors have shot dead two people in Kotido District. The gunmen attacked Panyangara Trading Centre in Kotido Municipal Council at around 9:00 pm on Monday.

The dead have been identified as David Ocen, the Principal Town Agent Kotidi, and one unidentified Boda Boda rider.  Dr Peter Lomowga, a health worker of Panyangara Health Centre III was shot and injured in the leg.

There have been several attacks against the community in Panyangara with gunmen waylaying road users.  Two weeks ago, a cyclist was beaten and robbed 400,000 Shillings while riding from Panyangara to Kotido town.

Police responded to the attack but residents say it took almost an hour before they arrived at the scene.

The community says that the attackers are notorious warriors who are against the ongoing disarmament exercise.

John Bosco Akore, the Founder of Karamoja Peace and Environmental Protection Service and Secretary Kotido Cultural Elders Council, said that security personnel should mount patrols especially on the Kotido – Moroto Road.
