An angry mob in Bugembe town council in Jinja district
has torched the house belonging to a man suspected to have masterminded the attack
on Shafik Yusuf Bogeere. The mob members surrounded Sany’s home on Friday afternoon and
ransacked it before torching it.
Police managed to rescue Bogeere’s family
members and took them to Bugembe police station for safe custody as the angry
residents attempted to lynch them. Residents accuse Sany together with
others still at large of stabbing Bogeere on Thursday night shortly after
withdrawing money from a mobile money stall.
Bogeere was rushed to Bugembe General Hospital
where he was declared dead on arrival. Peter Kimaka, a resident of Budhumbuli
Village, says Sany is a notorious community who has been terrorising
their community with his accomplices.
According to Kimaka, they
have severally filed complaints against Sany
without getting justice as he is released by police on citing lack of
satisfactory evidence against him.
