Tanzanian National Dies In Lodge in Kabale

A Tanzanian national died on Wednesday, September 5, at Home Sweet Home Hotel in Katuna town, Kabale district.

Fikiri Ramathan Hussein (34) died after he collapsed while trying to wash his clothes outside a room into which he had checked on September 1.

It is believed that deceased had been a turn boy and resident of Bagamoyo in Tanzania. He was on his way from Bujumbura, Burundi, where the driver of the truck they were using was under detention after causing an accident.

It is said that the Hussein had decided to stop over in Katuna while waiting for the release of the driver.

A lodge attendant who only identified herself as Sheila told Uganda Radio Network that the deceased had put some clothes outside his room for laundry but collapsed before he started washing them.

Jack Tugumisiriza, the owner of the lodge, said that he was called by one of the attendants to rush to the scene but found him already dead.

Elly Maate, the south –south western Uganda Police spokesperson, confirmed the death.

He indicated that arrangements had been made to transfer the body to Kampala for further investigations.

By the time of filing this story, the deceased’s body had been rushed to Kabale regional referral hospital for  post-mortem.
