The Democratic Alliance (TDA) Summit is set to convene next week on Tuesday to discuss a way forward, after the alliance failed to agree on a joint presidential candidate.

According to the alliance Secretariat Coordinator, Bishop Zac Niringiye, the Summit will be discussing together with the two presidential aspirants Amama Mbabazi and Dr. Kizza Besigye on how the alliance is going to manage the new situation and how to continue with TDA work.

This comes after the political parties that endorsed the candidature of former Prime Minister, Amama Mbabazi called for an emergency session of the Summit to agree on the way forward.

Before Mbabazi addressed journalists at the The Democratic Alliance offices in Naguru, Democratic Party (DP) president Nobert Mao read out a statement in which he called for an emergency session of the Summit.

Mbabazi also supported the call for continued unity and dialogue to cause change in the country.

On Wednesday this week, The Democratic Alliance (TDA) Summit failed to reach consensus on either former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi or Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential flag bearer Dr. Kizza Besigye. The alliance now says they will present two candidates.
