Police in Masaka are holding a 40 year old school teacher for allegedly defiling two pupils aged 8 and 1.
The suspect Sulait Agaba is a primary teacher at Elishad Islamic Primary School at Katwe, a Masaka town suburb, in Masaka district.
It is alleged that Agaba defiled a primary five pupil aged 11 years after defiling another 8 year old primary two pupil for almost a year.
Agaba was on Tuesday afternoon picked up from school by police after one of the victim’s parent reported the matter to police.
According to Rose Nabukenya, the mother of the primary five pupil, she was forced to take her child to school on Tuesday morning after the girl refused to go to school alone.
Nabukenya says that when she confronted the minor before his teacher as to why she did not want to study, the girl revealed that whenever she goes to school the suspect forces her to go to his room where he defiles her.
The minor further said that when she asked for advice from fellow pupils on whether she should report Agaba to her parents, she was told not to reveal the abuse. The 8 year old victim confessed to her that although she was being defiled, she was afraid of reporting their teacher because he had threatened to kill her if she ever told anyone.
The 8 year old primary two pupil, a daughter to Hariat Nabakooza, said that Agaba defiled her for almost a year.
Upon interrogation, Agaba confessed to the crimes admitting that the minors were telling the truth.
Eddie Sserujoji, Masaka District Police Commander, said the minors were going to be taken for medical checkup adding that after getting the results, Agaba will be charged when investigations are complete.
