A 14-year-old boy, Simon Okodi, died on Sunday at around 5:10 p.m. after falling off a moving truck along the Kibale–Kamuge road in Kibale Town Council, Pallisa District. According to Wilfred Kyapasa, the acting Bukedi North region Police Spokesperson, Okodi and a friend had left home to visit a barber in Kibale Trading Centre.

On their way, they jumped onto a slow-moving Isuzu Forward truck, registration number UBE 451Y, without the driver’s knowledge. As the vehicle approached Kibale Town, one of the boys jumped off safely at a road hump. However, Okodi reportedly lost balance during the attempt and fell, allegedly being run over by the truck.

A traffic police team from Pallisa Police Station, led by Fred Mutono, responded to the scene, documented it with a sketch plan, and transported the body to Pallisa General Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

The truck driver, identified as Mike Okodi, was arrested and is currently in custody as investigations continue. The vehicle has been impounded and is parked at the Kibale yard awaiting inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles (IOV).
