Bosco Onyik, the board chairman National Council of Sports says that they have received the list and going through it.
Uganda Lawn Tennis Association- ULTA has finally bowed to pressure from the National Council of Sports and handed over the list of delegates ahead of the general assembly on Saturday. Recently, Jasper Aligawesa, the Secretary National Council of Sports wrote to ULTA to present a list of the delegates. It came after some clubs and prospective delegates complained of foul play ahead of the general assembly. They accused the leadership of ULTA of deliberately excluding them from the assembly to deny them a chance to participate in the election of new office bearers.
As a result, National Council of Sports asked ULTA to submit the list of the delegates before the general assembly convenes. Bosco Onyik, the board chairman National Council of Sports says that they have received the list and going through it. He says the elections will now go on as planned. The ULTA elections heated up aftera local businessman Arthur Ssegawa declared his intention to challenge Cedric Babu for the top job. Ssegawa bankrolls the Lugogo Center Court Club. However, Stephen Musisi, the secretary ULTA says Lugogo Centre Court Club does not have membership and they will not be represented at the assembly.
He claims Lugogo Centre Court Club applied late for membership. Onyik says that after looking through the list of delegates they discovered that there are about 20 schools that will send representatives, while Kampala Club Limited which will host the Assembly will have 10 delegates. Cedric Babu, the incumbent ULTA president is confident that he will win another term of office because he has unfinished business. He says that his leadership is trying to attract sponsors to the sport and also struggling to complete the long standing US$20,000 debt with the International Tennis body.
