There is tension in Loyoro Sub County in Kaabong district in connection of the death of a young woman on Tuesday.

19-year-old, Juliana Nakwang reportedly met her death at the hands of another teenager following a misunderstanding.

The two had reportedly gone to weed a garden when they developed a quarrel leading to a fight, which took Nakwang’s life.

Bruno Opio Okure, the Officer in Charge of Loyoro Police Station, says the deceased was strangled to death using beads.

The teenager was picked up and locked at Kaabong Central Police Station. The relatives of the deceased stormed the home of the teenager and drove away her family members demanding compensation for their daughter.

They pitched camp at Loyoro Police Station where they spent a night. It took Police intervention to calm down the situation as the angry mob members tried to raid the cows from the suspect’s family.

However Okure says the two parties have decided to hold discussions to agree on the number of cows for compensation. It isn’t clear whether the law will take its course once the compensations demands are met.

Incidents of locals turning against each other are becoming common in Kotido and Kaabong districts. Last month, a 17- year- old boy killed his 19- year- old friend in Nakapelimoru Sub County in Kotido district over a simple argument that also arose on a farm.
