Three Arrested in Kasese Over Vandalism

Police in Kasese District have apprehended three suspects for allegedly vandalizing and causing malicious damage to power wires in Base Camp Lower Cell, Kasese Municipality.

The suspects, identified as Moris Mumbere, Nyansio Kule, and Bernard Bwambale, are all residents of Nyamamba Division. The Rwenzori East Police Spokesperson, Nelson Tumushime, thanked the community and area leaders for their alertness and assistance, which was crucial in apprehending the perpetrators.

He said further investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the vandalism and hold those involved accountable. Jafari Kighutiya, the LC1 Chairperson of Base Camp, told URN that the division has been experiencing frequent thefts, with thugs mainly targeting items they can sell as scrap.

He noted that recently they arrested a prime suspect who has been masterminding the vandalism of electricity installations, but his associates are still at large.
