Luuka police are holding three youths suspected of beheading
61- year-old man on Monday this week. The deceased is Alex Mukasa, a resident
of Busanda B village in Bukoova town council in Luuka district.
He was beheaded and his torso dumped in a sugarcane
plantation near his home. Police have launched a manhunt for the deceased’s
head, which is still missing. The torso is lying at Kiyunga health Center IV
mortuary pending a postmortem.
Suleiman Dhabasadha, a resident of the area,
says that Mukasa was a peaceful man whose murder has shocked his community
members. "He was a very respectable elder who frequently offered timely
advice to warring parties within our community. We were shocked to find out
that he had been butchered," he said.
Busoga North Region police Spokesperson, Michael Kasadha says
police picked up the three suspects based on leads from the community. The
suspects are locked up at Luuka central police station.
Kasadha says that they
are yet to establish the motive behind the gruesome murders, adding that a team
of detectives is on the ground to gather more leads.
