Joseph Oryem, the LCI Karuma Town Council says that the deceased was extracting construction aggregates for sale when the soil developed deep cracks forcing the rocks to roll down and buried them.

Three people have died after they buried alive at a quarry in
Kiryandongo District.
The incident occurred on Saturday evening at about 5:00 pm at the
hydropower station in Karuma Town Council from Kiryandongo District.
The deceased has been identified as David Otingcwinywa aged 23,
Cwinyaai James aged 39 and a 33-year-old man only identified as Boy, all residents
of Dima Sub County.
Two other people were critically injured and are admitted to Restoration
Gateway Hospital.
They include Alfred Obwot and Rodgers Opar.

Oryem however warned people to desist from quarry work in the area
until a survey is conducted to ascertain the condition of the area.
The bodies of the deceased were taken to Kiryandongo hospital for
post-mortem.
