Three Bodies of Lake Albert Boat Accident Retrieved

The three bodies were retrieved on Tuesday Afternoon at around 12pm. They are yet to be identified.
Three more bodies have been retrieved from Lake Albert in Kagadi district following a nasty boat accident.

The unidentified bodies were retrieved on Tuesday by fishermen and the marine police.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson says the bodies are currently lying at Kamina landing site pending identification by their relatives adding that the search for three bodies is on-going.

This brings to four, the total number of bodies retrieved from the lake following the boat accident.

Seven people perished on Lake Albert waters near Kamina landing site in Ndaiga Sub County Kagadi district on Monday.

The accident occurred at 7 a.m when the boat loaded with fish and 18 people destined for Lwakengi in the Democratic Republic of Congo-RDC capsized after being hit by strong winds. Eleven passengers were rescued by fishermen.


In May, a boat carrying 50 footballers and fans capsized near Fofo landing site in Buseruka Sub County, Hoima district killing 16 people.  The boat which was carrying Players and Fans of Fofo Football Club for a friendly match at Runga Landing Site capsized a few meters after setting off.
