Three Nominated in Bunyangabu Elections

The first to be nominated at 2:30pm was Peace Mutuuzo, the National Resistance Movement-NRM party flag bearer and State Minister of Gender Labour and Social Development.

Nominations of candidates vying for Woman Member and District Local Council Chairperson for Bunyangabu district kicked off today afternoon at the district headquarters.

The nomination exercise which was presided over by Valley Kanzira, the Bunyangabu  district registrar, was supposed to start at 10:00am, but was postponed to the afternoon following a heavy downpour.

The first to be nominated at 2:30pm was Peace Mutuuzo, the National Resistance Movement-NRM party flag bearer and State Minister of Gender Labour and Social Development.

On Tuesday, Mutuuzo won the party elections after defeating  Rose Mary Byabasaija, the former Kabarole district deputy resident commissioner.

The second to be nominated was Forum for Democratic for Change - FDC party candidate Dorothy Nyakaisiki. 

Another FDC candidate to be nominated was Silver Tweyongire, who is contesting for  district LC 5 Chairperson seat. Tweyongire was accompanied  by Winnie Kiiza, the Leader of Opposition in Parliament and William Nzoghu, the MP Busongora East in Kasese district.

Kiiza rallied FDC supporters in the district to support the party candidates.

Tweyongire told his supporters shortly after being nominated that once elected he will ensure that the people of Bunyangabu District have access to clean and safe water.

However Lydia Kiiza, an independent canidate contesting for Woman MP was turned away because her academic documents were not certified.

Candidates who will be nominated tomorrow include NRM party candidate James Ategeka who is vying for District LC 5 Chairperson seat,  independent candidates Nestor Basemera and Rosemary Byabasaija contesting for Woman MP.
