Three Officials Arrested for Theft of Drugs in Kotido

Three people have been arrested over theft of government drugs in Kotido Health Centre IV. The trio includes Divine Aburon, a nursing officer, Doreen Aching, a porter and Sgt. Disco Buryang, the in-charge of the Police Post annexed to the health centre.

The police also arrested Julius Opio Otim, a middleman who reportedly sold the drugs to pharmacies in Soroti, where the tins of drugs are rebranded in a cover-up.

Kotido District Police Commander Apollo Kyangungu says that the suspects and others still at large have been colluding to steal the drugs from Kotido HCIV and selling them to buyers in Soroti.

Kyangungu appealed to the health workers to serve patients diligently.

The in-charge of Kotido Health Centre IV Dr Erick Drilo declined to comment on the issue saying the matter is under investigation.

Drug shortage is very common at Kotido Health Centre IV and patients are always referred to buy drugs from clinics.
