Michael Longole, the Mt. Moroto regional Police spokesperson said that PC Abala was convicted and dismissed from the Uganda Police Force for masterminding and misleading other officers to commit a crime.
Three Police officers
who slaughtered a cow in their custody and sold the meat to the butcher have
been arraigned before the police disciplinary court in Napak district.
The suspects
identified as D/c Alex Abala, PC Kenneth Sebastian Okello and PC Gift Wasi Wasi
were tried on the 7th November 2023, and charged with discreditable conduct
contrary to section 44(12) of the Police act.
Court found out that
on the 1st of November 2023 while at ASTU barrack in Matany Town council,
the accused officers acted in a discreditable manner unbecoming of the Police
officers by unlawfully slaughtering a cow which was in their custody and
selling the meat within Matany town Council.

Longole noted that PC
Okello and PC Wasi Wasi were found to have acted on the influence
of DC Abala and having been remorseful they were sentenced to severe
reprimand. He added that the
officers have been handed over to Napak central Police station to continue with
the criminal case of cattle theft.
In a related development,
the joint security forces are investigating circumstances under which a UPDF
soldier in Kween district shot dead his wife before turning the gun on himself.
Maj. Moses Amuya, the
Acting Spokesperson for UPDF 3rd division says that the unfortunate incident
happened on 6th November at 51 battalion detach in Kween district.
Amuya identified the
soldier as Emmanuel Omara and his wife Agnes Vicky Akello. He added that they
are yet to establish the motive behind the incident. He said a joint security forces team has commenced on the investigations.
