Three suspected thugs in Hoima have been arrested after they attempted
to break into the premises of Uganda Tobacco Services.
The thugs whose names have been concealed by police for fear of jeopardizing investigations
broke into the stores at 11 pm on Monday. They started loading tobacco on a
canter truck registration number UBD 878D.
However before they could finish loading, the police was alerted
and surrounded them.
When they noticed police they attempted to flee prompting the police to shoot
several bullets in the air to scare them. Police managed to apprehend them
together with the canter truck they were using to load the Tobacco.
They were immediately whisked to Hoima central police station where they are
currently being detained.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson says the suspects will
be arraigned before court to be charged with attempted robbery.
