Thugs Kill One, Critically Injure Another in Arua

The 23-year-old Jonathan Econi, a resident of Ndriva village former Dadamu Sub County Ayivu East in Arua City was found lying lifeless in a pool of blood along Arua-Mvara road in the wee hours of this morning. Econi’s colleague William Ocatre was clobbered and his jaws smashed by the thugs. He is currently hospitalised at Arua Regional Referral hospital.

Arua police have launched a manhunt for unidentified thugs accused of killing one person and injuring another critically in Arua East in the wee hours of this morning.

The 23-year-old Jonathan Econi, a resident of Ndriva village former Dadamu Sub County Ayivu East in Arua City was found lying lifeless in a pool of blood along Arua-Mvara road in the wee hours of this morning. 

Econi’s colleague William Ocatre was clobbered and his jaws smashed by the thugs. He is currently hospitalised at Arua Regional Referral hospital. The third victim only identified as Ivan who was carrying the two survived the incident but his motorcycle was damaged by the attackers.

According to preliminary police findings, the victims were returning from disco and were ambushed by the thugs near Oluko Sub County headquarters. The postmortem report from Arua hospital shows that Econi succumbed to excessive bleeding.

Julius Anziku, the Oluko village LC I chairperson told URN that he has already recorded a statement with the police on the incident.

According to information from some of the relatives, the thugs followed the deceased and his two friends and beat them up after clashing over a lady at the disco.
