The Flying Squad Unit (FSU) has launched a manhunt for unidentified thugs accused of robbing a mobile money agent, Denis Mwesigwa and
killing Rafael Walugembe, a student of Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi in Natete in Lubaga Division in Kampala on Tuesday night.

He immediately notified the Officer in Charge of Criminal Investigations at Natete Police Station who also
rushed to the scene with a team of Scene of Crime Officers (SOCOs) and secured
According to Onyango, while at the scene it was discovered
that a group of armed robbers moving in a silver vehicle whose registration number couldn't readily be established blocked Mwesigwa’s car in which he was
traveling with his wife and robbed them of their phones and money.
“Robbers blocked Mwesigwa and his wife and started shooting in
air while shouting that he should surrender whatever he had in the vehicle.
They searched him and took a Samsung phone & a wallet containing Shillings 400,000
plus his wife's bag containing a phone, Shillings 210,000 and other items yet
to be identified,” Onyango said.
Police also established that Walugembe was killed by a stray
bullet fired by the thugs to scare neighbors from interfering with the robbery.
Walugembe was killed outside the gate of his father’s house. “The deceased was just leaving his father's house to go and
sleep in his sister's house who is admitted in the hospital. The body was taken
to the mortuary for postmortem,” Onyango said.
Police recovered seven cartridges picked from the scene. Investigation
has so far revealed that the thugs trailed Mwesigwa for a distance and
intercepted him near his house.
Onyango said a team of the Flying Squad Unit
operatives has been dispatched to trace for the robbers.
