Unidentified thugs have broken into Bugweri district headquarters and made off worth Shillings 10 million.

The thugs also broke windowpanes and door locks during the raid on Tuesday night.

Jonathan Mukose, the Bugweri Chief Administrative Officer told journalists that the thugs took three desktop computers, four hard disks and unspecified documents.

According to Musoke, they were surprised to find broken doors this morning.

“I was among the last people to leave office, but we are surprised to receive a treat of broken doors on arrival this morning,” he said.

Adding that, “We are planning on fencing this current provisional district headquarter which is shared with a polytechnic in hope of reducing intrusion of outside forces like thieves.”

A guard who preferred anonymity told URN that the thugs locked him in the toilet before breaking the office doors.

“They came in black hoods and locked me up in a toilet, before breaking office doors. I was only rescued by farmers who heard me cry for help,” he said.

James Mubi, the Busoga East Region Police Spokesperson, says the search for the lost items and those behind the theft is ongoing

“We have so far mounted a search for the lost items and our detectives are tracking down possible suspects in this case,” he said.
