Police in Luwero have launched a manhunt for seven suspected thugs involved in the ransacking of Mack Oil Limited, a fuel station located in Market Zone, approximately 63 kilometers into Luwero town council along the Kampala-Gulu highway.

The incident, considered aggravated, took place around 2 a.m. and was reported by Mubiru Vincent, 28, a Pump Attendant residing in Kakookolo Zone, Kasana, Luwero Town Council.   According to Sam Twiineamazima, the Savannah Regional police spokesperson, preliminary investigations suggest that approximately seven individuals dressed in civilian attire arrived in a white Toyota WISH, demanding Shillings 50,000 worth of petrol.

As the Pump Attendant was processing the transaction, one of the suspects, wearing a cap, grabbed him and demanded money.   Twiineamazima explained that the situation escalated when the other thugs joined in attacking the Pump Attendant, with a security guard named Otim Benard also siding with the criminals. Otim allegedly held the Pump Attendant at gunpoint while they tied up him and two other colleagues behind the station, robbing them of an unspecified amount of money.

Additionally, the suspects broke into the station's offices, stealing Shillings 24,846,000 in cash, five HP laptops, one Lenovo laptop, and several agency cell phones. Otim Benard reportedly fled the scene along with the other criminals, abandoning the gun. Police recovered the firearm from the scene, and according to a police statement, Otim Benard is accused of administering chloroform-laced porridge to his two coworkers, Labacanda Tabitha and Angesilas Paddy, before the crime.

The injured victims have been admitted to Bishop Ceaser Asili Hospital in Kasana, Luwero, for treatment. Twiineamazima assured the public that joint security forces in the Savannah region are actively pursuing the suspects to bring them to justice.
