A vanilla farmer in Rwembyo-Kiburara village in Kisinga Sub County, Kasese district has been stabbed to death. The deceased is identified as Milton Baluku Kahangabalya.

According to his neighbour Johnson Baluku Mbalhuwako, the two thugs raided the deceased's home at around 9 p.m. on Friday. The two had reportedly been spotted moving around the village for a number of hours before they launched the attack that ended Kahangabalya's life.

Another neighbour, a one Yahaya Kule who had spotted the unusual movements tipped Kahangabalya, who has been working the village secretary for defence, about the existence of unknown people roaming around the village. It is suspected that the thieves were targeting vanilla farms, now in the harvest season.

Kahangabalya was found already protecting his vanilla farm when they made the first attempt to enter his territory. He chased after them after they failed to identify themselves, but they grabbed him about 500 meters away from his home and stabbed him through the chest.  He succumbed to excessive bleeding.

Mbalhuwako appealed to the security forces to carry out investigations and expeditiously bring to book the perpetrators of the heinous act.
