Unidentified thugs on Wednesday night a group of thugs broke into the facility and stole five temperature guns, a weighing scale, and assortments of coartem, gloves and other valuable items.
The police in Apac district are investigating circumstances under
which thugs broke into Atar Health Center II
in Apac Sub County.

into the facility and stole five temperature guns, a weighing scale, and
assortments of coartem, gloves and other valuable items.
The incident, however, comes barely two months after unknown assailants
broke into the same health facility and made off with the hospital equipment
worth 2.5 Million Shillings.
Geoffrey Okello Otafirre, the LCII Chairman of Abedi parish, says the incident occurred
at the time when it was not guarded because the security guard was on sick
leave and no patient was admitted at the ward.
The officer in charge Atar outpost George Ekol says that they have
launched an investigation into the matter.
The theft has however has left patients neighbouring the health
facility stranded.
Joan Akello, a mother of two says that they have always relied on
Atar Health Center II, but now have no option but buy drugs from private drug
shops.
Walter Oludi accuses management of the health centre for negligence.
He suspects that some hospital staff could have connived with the thugs. He
wants the police to investigate the matter thoroughly well.
According to records from the Out-Patients Department, Atar Health
Center II receives between 300-400 patients every month.
Dr Mathew Emer, the Apac district Health Officer says they are waiting for a report from the hospital in-charge and the police before
intervening into the matter.
