George Kyalimpa (RIP)
Tooro Kingdom is mourning the death of George Kyalimpa, the King’s
Stool caretaker, known as Omukoona.
Kyalimpa succumbed to diabetes at Fort Portal Regional Referral Hospital on
Wednesday night aged 66.
According to a statement issued by the Kingdom’s Information Minister, Charles
Mpagi Mwaguhya, the King of Tooro, Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, is
saddened by the death of Kyalimpa whom he has described as a dedicated servant.
Kyalimpa last performed his official duties during celebrations to mark King
Oyo’s 24th coronation anniversary at the palace about two weeks ago.
During cultural functions at the King’s Palace, Kyalimpa wore bark cloth and always
sat by the King. He also sounded the drum whenever the King was arriving at an event.
The Tooro Kingdom Prime Minister, Bernard Tungakwo, has described
Kyalimpa’s death as shock and a big loss to the Kingdom.
