Lyantonde town council, town clerk is under fire for failing to implement Council resolutions, which has affected service delivery.

Councillors led by Bongo Ddamulira of Kooki Ward D during a council meeting on Wednesday put the town clerk Martin Rogers Ssentongo to task to explain why he has failed to implement resolutions passed by council.

Ssentongo's troubles stems from the resolution passed by councillors to refurbish the council hall by procuring chairs and tables among other things.

He says that it is getting close to two years since the resolution to buy council furniture was passed.

Cue in: // “it's too much….”

Cue out: // “….he should retire”.

Councillors also accuse Ssentongo of failing to put up signposts at different points that lead to the town and labelling council property among other things.

Mustafah  Kalule, the Lyantonde town council chairperson says that Ssentongo has failed to collect revenue from various businesses that are operating in the town and that the few funds that are collected are embezzled by the technical staff.

Cue out:// “we discovered ….”

Cue out://  “…council will penalize you”

Angela Namukasa says that the town clerk should resign because he also spends much of his time running his personal businesses instead of doing council work.

She wondered if the town clerk has moral authority to penalize other technical staff for absenteeism yet he also misses work over unclear reasons.

Ssentongo accepted that some works have never been implemented, but promised to address the challenges.

Cue in:// “I apologize….”

Cue out:// “….accept my apologies ”
