Transport is paralysed in Mbulamuti town council in Kamuli
district due to flooding at Kiko wetland, which has cut off several roads.
The affected include
Bugonda and Kiyungu villages. Some of the residents say they have been cut off
by the floods and can’t access the town.
They fault Dynasty Company limited,
which was contracted to work on the roads for the slow pace.

David Kiirya, a teacher at Bugonda primary school, says the turn up of both pupils
and teachers is very low as most have failed to find transport means. Kiirya says
the available boats are too weak, which makes it hard to convince parents to use
them to send their children to school.

Zaituni Kifuko, an expectant mother who spoke to URN after reporting for
antenatal visit at Mbulamuti health center III claims, says she witnessed two
water accidents on her way.
She says the situation is worsening by the day and
may lead to more fatalities unless something is done.

Jacob Kato, a motorist in Mbulamuti town council, says most of his clients
reside in Bugodi village and its surrounding areas, which has affected his business.

According to Kigenyi, he has failed to ferry merchandise to his shop to boost
his stock because of the poor state of roads in the area.
