Twelve Injured in Ntungamo Accident

The vehicle which was transporting agricultural produce and traders from Kinoni Market in Mbarara district to Ntungamo town was reportedly trying to avoid hitting a lorry that was making a U-turn in the road when it lost control and veered off the road.

Twelve people have been critically injured in an accident that occurred along the Mbarara - Ntungamo road this morning.  The accident that occurred about two kilometers from Ntungamo town involved an omnibus registration number UAZ 822J.

The vehicle which was transporting agricultural produce and traders from Kinoni Market in Mbarara district to Ntungamo town was reportedly trying to avoid hitting a lorry that was making a U-turn in the road when it lost control and veered off the road.

Micheal Odong the officer in charge of the traffic police department told URN that the vehicle has been towed to Ntungamo Police Station while the injured have been rushed to Itojo Hospital for treatment.

Odong adds that the police have also arrested the lorry driver whose names were withheld for disrupting the smooth flow of traffic.
