Two Arrested for Siphoning Fuel

Police in Ibanda have arrested two people for the alleged theft of fuel.

The suspects are Alex Makanika and Ali Mukalasi, both workers with the China Railway Seventh Group, which was contracted to upgrade the Kazo-Ibanda to Kamwenge road.

They are accused of stealing more than 680 liters of petroleum products.

The district police commander, Christopher Barugahare the fuel was found hidden in a house belonging to Levi Ntaro, the Boda Boda chairperson in Ishongororo.

The DPC said that the 180 liters of hydraulic fluid, 70 liters of CC oil, 50 liters of engine oil, 130 liters of diesel, 250 kgs of grease and two batteries.

 The China Railway Seventh Group site manager, Liu Guanglei said that the workers are suspected to have stolen eight bags of cement, six iron bars and tools like hoes and pangas.

Guanglei said that this is the second time; the two workers are being arrested with stolen fuel belonging to the China Railway Seventh Group.
