Police
in Luwero District have arrested two people in
connection with the theft of 26 cows.
The
suspects have been identified as Godfrey Taremwa, 21, and Nathan Kanyesigye,
24 residents of Kitegwa village, Lwebisanja ward, Kyankwanzi Town Council.
According
to reports, the suspects allegedly raided Nakaseta village in Busiika Town Council,
Luwero District, on Thursday, where they stole the
cows.
Sam
Twiineamazima, the Savannah Regional Police spokesman, stated that preliminary
information suggests the Officer in Charge of Wobulenzi Police Station received
a tip-off regarding the incident.
The
message indicated that three individuals were moving with over twenty cows
along Bamunanika Road, heading towards Wobulenzi Town Council.
Twiineamazima
noted that the police intercepted the suspects, while the third suspect managed to escape.
The
police subsequently recovered all 26 stolen cows.

Cattle theft is rampant in the Savannah
region. In September, 30 cattle were stolen from residents in Butuntumula Sub-County, Luwero
District.
