Two suspected thugs are in trouble for
attempting to steal solar panels at the residence of Maj. Gen Paul Lokech, Uganda’s
Special Military Envoy to South Sudan.
are said to have broken into Gen Lokech’s
guarded home in Paipii village, Lunna parish in Pader town Council in Pader
district around 1:30 am Monday morning and vandalized one of the solar panels
in the compound. A soldier guarding the general’s home intervened to
find out why the lights had gone off but interfaced with one of the thugs who
attempted to flee away.

arrest one of the thugs after firing two warning shots. “When the guard realised that the lights in the compound had suddenly
gone off he hurriedly went to check what could have happened and found someone
fleeing. He fired two warning shots in the air and the suspect knelt down and
surrendered,” he said.
Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson, Jimmy Patrick Okema
confirmed arrest of the suspects saying on of them has been identified as
Benson Komakech, a resident of Agago district. He explained that during interrogations
the suspects said they had come in a group of four and with two guns, which
they alleged got from a police post in Agago District.
The other implicated suspects are Ojok Paibulo, Pius Okidi,
Obok Achan and Ramson Obwola, all from Agago district. Okema noted that
one of the implicated suspects he identified as Obwola was later traced,
arrested and locked up. Komakech, who was caught at Gen Lokech’s residence, is admitted
at Pader Health Centre III under police protection after reportedly being tortured.
According to Okema, a team of detectives from Pader are in Agago district for
inquiries. A case of criminal trespass has been registered at Pader Central
Police Station vide CRB 177/2020
