Two Arrested in Soroti Over Illegal Gun Possession

They were arrested on Tuesday in Asuret Sub County in Soroti district by police with the help of the UPDF officers.

Police in Soroti have arrested two security guards over illegal possession of a gun.  

They are Patrick Omoda, 27 years, formerly working as a Special Police Constable, SPC attached to Kiira road police station and currently working with Track Security Company based in Mukono district and Musa Opara, 26 years working with Securiko Security Company based in Bugolobi.  

They were arrested on Tuesday in Asuret Sub County in Soroti district by police with the help of the UPDF officers.

Their arrest followed a tip-off by residents in the area who suspected them to be criminals.

The two guards had dismantled a gun and put it inside their bag which drew suspicion from the residents.

Michael Odongo, the East Kyoga Police spokesperson, says that police has also recovered a gun SAR No 2201598903 with five rounds of ammunition.

Odongo says that the suspects, when interrogated by police said they were headed to Serere district after leaving Mukono last night.

He says police have commenced investigations into the matter.
