Two children have been burnt to death in Amolatar district this morning when fire gutted their kitchen. The incident occurred in Rwanzoge B Village, Nakatiti parish, Muntu Sub County.

The deceased have been identified as Joshua Okello,5,  and his 2-year-old sister Tracy Among. Their mother identified as Rebecca Ajuru had reportedly gone to collect water when the fire broke out.

David Enyang, the Rwanzoge B village chairperson says the children reportedly had tried to add more firewood under the boiling saucepan of potatoes when the fire caught the kitchen.

He says the neighbours rushed to rescue the minors but failed because the fire was too intense. Enyang says Okello died on the spot while Among died a few hours later after admission to Amai Hospital.
