Two people have been shot dead and one is injured in separate shootings that happened in Kisoro and Rukungiri Districts in Kigezi region.
The first incident occurred on Thursday evening at around 07:30pm at Mulayini in Karumena cell, Kisoro Municipality where men who have not yet been arrested shot Innocent Mugisha.
Mugisha, in his 50's and a prominent businessman in Kisoro town was attacked while in his home at Mulayini Karumena cell. He was shot at several times.
Hajji Shafique Ssekandi, the Kisoro Resident District Commissioner says that the gunmen also shot Stephen Yumvirusaba in the leg while he tried to make an alarm.
Ssekandi says that the gunmen were whisked away by a boda boda motorcycle to unknown place. He says that the assailants never demanded nor took anything from the home of the deceased.
Yumvirusaba is currently admitted at Mutorere hospital, while the body of Mugisha is at Kisoro Hospital Mortuary for Postmortem.
The second incident occurred on Thursday evening at around 09:00pm at Buyanja town cell, in Buyanja Parish,Buyanja Sub County, Rukungiri District where a mobile money agent was gunned down by unknown assailants using a sub machine Gun.
Arthur Niwandinda, 34, was gunned down by two unknown assailants while on his way home. Niwandinda was waylaid in a corridor before he was shot several times in the chest. Assailants immediately disappeared.
Elly Maate, the Police Spokesperson for Kigezi Region says that police has kicked off investigations into both shootings.
Maate says that police has recovered a cartridge at the scene of crime for the Rukungiri murder, that will help in investigations. Maate also says that police is still finding out whether the assailants took off with money.

The incidents come on the backdrop of persistent attacks against civilians in the district.
The latest attack was on November 22 this year, when Jean Ntanuheza, a 35-year old national of Rwanda was found dead and his body dumped at a playground in Buhuro village.
On November 20, Efrance Uzamukunda, 42, a resident of Murora village was shot by gun wielding men at Kibugu trading centre near Kibugu Church of Uganda about seven miles to the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo.
In August this year, Moses Kilongosi, a security officer attached to the Field Force Patrol (FFP) was killed by unknown assailants while he was on duty guarding the office of the District Resident State Attorney, David Mugamba along Mutanda road in central division Kisoro Municipality. The unknown assailants run away with his gun.
