Two Guards Arrested Over SACCO Robbery

The suspects are Yasin Twinamasiko and John Olega, all attached to Starlit Security Company Limited.

Police is holding two security guards in connection to the robbery of 8 million shillings from RIDO Savings and Credit Cooperative Organization-SACCO in Igayaza trading center in Kibaale District. The suspects are Yasin Twinamasiko and John Olega, all attached to Starlit Security Company Limited. They were picked up on Thursday in connection to the robbery of 8 million shillings from the SACCO and its property on Saturday night. Robert Emuna, the Criminal Investigations Officer Kakumiro police station says that the suspects were on duty at the time of the robbery.  He explains that robbers dug a hole in the SACCO building and carried away a safe containing money, vehicle log books and land titles and a motorcycle.

Bernard Kisembo, the SACCO Manager says he learnt of the robbery on Sunday morning after residents saw a big hole on the building housing the SACCO. Kisembo says that he reported the matter to Kakumiro police station prompting a search and eventual arrest of the two security guards. Robert Emuna, the Criminal Investigations Officer Kakumiro police station says the guards are suspected to have had a hand in the robbery as they were on duty at the time.

However, the suspects have denied the charges.
