Two Killed in Iganga-Busia Road Accident

It is reported that the two were traveling in a commuter taxi registration number; UAT 445P, from Busia to Iganga town.

Two people were on Thursday killed in an accident in Butende trading centre, along the Iganga-Busia highway. The dead have been identified as John Bosco Muyaka 22 and 25-year-old Sadrachi Kaziba. 


The two were traveling in a commuter taxi registration number; UAT 445P, from Busia to Iganga town. The driver is reported to have lost control and rammed into a Fuso registration number; UAV 044G, that had been parked on the roadside.

Three other people sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Iganga General Hospital.

Mawazi Mwanda, the LCI Chairperson of Butende village says that the driver was overspeeding, lost control and rammed into a parked FUSO.

Mwanda adds that they used axes and hoes to remove the bodies and the survivors.

Today’s accident comes a day after one person died and five others were critically injured on Wednesday along the Namutumba-Mbale road in Kalimila trading centre, Namutumba town council.

Busoga East Police Spokesperson, Diana Nandawula says that they have increased the number of police personnel on the roads to enforce traffic guidelines along the major highways, to curb road accidents.
